Donate a laptop

Your old laptop can help a child do homework, or someone find a job. We wipe it safely and give it a second life.

What we can use

  • Laptops from about the last ten years, working or with small faults,
  • with a charger if you still have it,
  • from people and companies. A business replacing its laptops can help many families at once.

We can't use computers that are badly damaged, or laptops that are still locked to an account, for example by a company's device management or an Apple ID.

What happens to your data

Your data is safe with us. Every laptop is:

  1. Wiped completely. The whole drive is overwritten or securely erased, not just "reset". Nothing of yours can be recovered.
  2. Set up fresh with free, open-source software (Linux), so no licences are passed on.
  3. Checked before it goes to its new owner.

If you'd rather remove the drive yourself first, that's fine: tell us and we'll fit a new one.

How to donate

Email help@akuadora.net with:

  • how many laptops, and roughly how old they are,
  • where you are, so we can arrange collection or drop-off.

Companies: we'll gladly talk about how your old IT can be collected and reused responsibly.

Other ways to give

  • Your time: see Volunteer.
  • Spare parts: chargers, memory, SSD drives and laptop bags are always useful.
